OUR HISTORY:
In 1949 a young man named Doug McFarlane shifted to Hamilton from the family farm in the King Country and worked for a small company called Hamilton Autos, servicing David Brown tractors. Seven years later in 1956, Doug McFarlane opened his own first business with his wife Betty in a shed in the middle of an orchard in Tawa Street, Hamilton, servicing all makes of tractors. As the business grew they shifted first to Lorne Street, then Claudelands, then into a purpose-built tractor workshop in Colombo Street, where he stayed for close to 30 years.
In the late 1980's Doug was joined by his eldest son, Stuart and they continued to grow the business acquiring brands which required the company expansion to a large purpose built site on Lincoln Street in Frankton.
The Antonio Carraro brand first hit New Zealand shores in 1996, and the multifunctional tractors are now seen in numerous industries across New Zealand, and continues to grow today.
In 2014, the company downsized from Lincoln Street to a site in Dinsdale to focus on the Antonio Carraro brand in New Zealand. The company is now owned by Stuart and his wife Sue.
