OUR HISTORY
In 1949 Doug McFarlane shifted to Hamilton from the family farm in the King Country and worked for Hamilton Autos, servicing David Brown tractors. Seven years later in 1956, Doug McFarlane opened his own business with his wife Betty in a shed in the middle of an orchard in Tawa Street, Hamilton, servicing all makes of tractors. As the business grew, he shifted first to Lorne Street, then Claudelands, then into a purpose-built tractor workshop in Colombo Street, where he stayed for close to 30 years.
His eldest son, Stuart joined the business and continue to grow the business acquiring brands requiring expansion to a larger purpose built site on Lincoln Street.
The Antonio Carraro brand first saw New Zealand in 1996, and the multifunctional tractors are now seen in numerous industries across New Zealand, and continues to grow today.
